Essentiality by Junko
The Chinese influencer Junko traveled to Paris in a quest for essentiality: an adventure to discover the story of the iconic fragrance L’Eau d’Issey.
“One evening in Paris, Issey Miyake saw the moon shining above the Eiffel Tower. The idea of a crystalline bead atop a glass bottle was born. One will be told that the legend is true, even if it contains the poetry of stories one enjoys after nightfall”
Her experience in Paris & first impressions on the city
This was not my first time to Paris but definitely the most unforgettable experience there this time. Paris is well-known for its fashionable and romantic atmosphere. Speaking of Romantic, many people would think about the Eiffel Tower which is also the inspiration of the perfume bottle of L’Eau d’Issey. On the first day, I visited the Issey Miyake boutique rue Royale, discovered the “Future, Former, Fugitive” exhibition at Le Palais de Tokyo but I also stood on a hot-air balloon, taking a bird’s eye view on the whole Paris. Wearing L’Eau d’Issey Eau de Toilette, I felt very fresh, calm and romantic. The Eiffel Tower is strong and tough during day time. However, when we were sited on the other side, having dinner and watching the beautiful tower in the evening, it was shining like diamonds, attracting everyone looks like a glamorous lady. The design of L’Eau d’Issey inspired me a lot, it is timeless and surprising at the same time.
Her olfactive souvenirs in Paris with L’Eau d’Issey
When the lotus flower encounters the fresh white flower, the smell perfectly matches the golden autumn of Paris. I have been wearing this fragrance for many years. Trace back to the first time I saw it in Japan when I was still a college student. I can’t believe that the timeless design of the bottle hasn’t been changed for the past 27 years which really inspired me. Moreover, wearing the fresh and refined scent always make me feel pure and calm. Especially when you want to downshift from the sophisticated city and go simple.
Her anecdotes on the trip
I learned during this time that for the creation of L’Eau d’Issey, the designer wanted to reflect the scent of a drop of water on a woman skin. What a poetic vision!
After the Balloon experience, we decided to take photos in the Park Javel Andre Citroen. The lake and fallen leaves were suitable for product shooting. We happened to saw two ducks that we wanted to leverage as the “props and background” of our photo. The bottles are perfect match with the ducks. This is one of my favorite pictures!
